Grandpa Ron & Nana Visit

We were very blessed to get to spend some time with my parents. They have family all over from Germany to Michigan to Hawaii to Texas to California to Kentucky. Oh, and they live most of the year in North Carolina. We know it is hard for them to get to see all of their kids and grand kids, but we love it when they get the chance to come!!

Jake didn't have a basketball game but they got to come watch him at practice. Here is Kacie and Grandpa sitting on the sidelines at Jake's practice.

We had a girls outing to watch the Lady Shockers last home game.

Kacie made it up on the big screen...she was so happy!!

We took the kids out of school for lunch. Here is Jake & Grandpa at Spangles.

It's All About the Food

In February Ben had to spend a week in Taiwan for work. He has been over there a handful of times and most of our conversation ends up being about the food he is served. I am not sure what all of these dishes are, but they are interesting to say the least.

Ben with his co-worker. This is actually a dessert they got at the street market.

It was some sort of light festival while Ben was in Taiwan. Here is Taipei 101 all lit up.

Happenings in February

We have had a very strange winter this year. We got just a little snow. Here is Cali running through the snow for the first time. She LOVED it! Sadie likes the snow too, she likes to lay in it and eat it.

This year on Valentines Day the kids had "cutie" day. Here is Kacie in her dress after school with her friends new puppy.

Jake never has worn a suit. I never thought to bribe him with a candy bar. That is what his teacher, Mrs. Haag did. She told him if he wore a suit and tie, he would get candy. Here he is with Kacie dressed up (he had already taken his tie off).
Jake made a Wichita State Valentines Box and Kacie made her sack in class at school.

I had to show this poster that a good friend of mine left on my porch to find. She had forgotten my birthday in February and felt terrible. So she used candy to tell me she was sorry and Happy Birthday. I loved it so much I have already used the idea myself.

Ben and the kids took me to eat for my birthday. Then Kacie read to me and snuggled me...she always makes me feel special!

Our Friend Ashton

We had a good time with this little guy Ashton.

Kacie is such a sweetie...here she is playing with Ashton.

Lady Pirates 2012

Kacie told me that if I would coach her team, she would like to play basketball. Of course I jumped on that! I had so, so much fun coaching these ladies. Not one stinky attitude and they all listened well and worked hard. I also coached with two other dads and they were great help and did a good job! I couldn't have scripted the season better...Every girl on our team improved HUGE from start to finish. And that was the goal of us coaches. We wanted each girl to be a better basketball player.
The awesome league, Upward, allowed us coaches to encourage the girls to know Jesus. Each week after practice we had a devotion and at the last practice I was able to present the gospel. Jesus and basketball...how fun!

Black Knights Basketball 2012

This winter for basketball our last year Heat team combined with the Jets hoping to be able to compete at a higher level. We had a pretty good run throughout the season. In league we finished with one loss and in 2nd place. In our league tournament we played the 1st place team in the championship game and lost by one point. It was such an exciting game watching the boys play so hard.
As an assistant coach it was rewarding to get to know these 4th grade boys, they were a lot of fun to be around! There was a lot of improvement as individual players and as a team!!

Hall Bathroom Remodel

These top two pictures are the first day of demo. We start to realize four of us will be using the master bath...hopefully it wont take too long!

The bottom two pictures are of the new sheet rock and the walls prepped. We just got our tile in and we are excited to see the bathroom come together.

Girl Cousin Fun!

Last August Kacie and I suprised Addi with tickets to see Miranda Cosgrove in concert. Miranda ended up getting in a wreck and hurt her ankle. So...Cody Simpson played a concert instead. The girls had a great time!! We went and ate at Chipotle and then off to watch Cody.
