For Memorial Day this year, we thought it would be fun to take the kids to their first MLB game in KC. We started the drive with our family devotions. We are going through a study of "How Can I Know What God is Like?" And the first concept deals with God showing us by the heart He gave us to know and love Him.
At one point during our devotion we were discussing about God's Word and how it is His means to speak to us with the guidance of the Holy Spirit. Jake gets real serious and wants to know how can we believe those words in the Bible are really God's words. It caught us off guard at first, however Ben did a great job explaining how the Bible came about and how we know the words are God's words.
Ben and myself were elated that he would ask such a question, because our prayer is that Jake makes his Faith his own Faith...not because his dad and mom make him do church stuff.
Jake did not seem settled, but we reassured him that Christ is real and He would continue to reveal Himself to Jake. And Christ decided not to wait long...
We arrive at Kauffman stadium and walk to get in the ticket line to buy the 5.00 general admission tickets. The line was long and we knew we would have a 15-20 minute wait before we would be able to purchase our tickets. We had a lady ask if we wanted to buy her 4 extra tickets that were 25 rows behind home plate for 25.00 each. Nope. That was more than we were willing to spend. About 3 minutes later a guy asks Ben if we need 4 tickets. Ben says yes, but thinking I don't want to spend much on tickets. But this guy said just take them, they are free. And don't worry they are good seats. Wow. What a blessing!!
We walk into the stadium and we are trying to figure out where our seats are. As we are walking around we notice that our tickets say Diamond Club and there in front of us was a glass room with ushers that said Diamond Club. Are you serious? The guy gave us pretty much the best seats in the entire stadium. We sat 20 rows behind home plate.
We of course shared with Jake that the seats way up high are where we were planning on sitting that day, but Jesus wanted to show you in a way that would relate with you that He is real.
Therefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the Glory of God the Father.
Phil. 2:9-11
Christ will use circumstances in our lives to reveal Himself to us. It is awesome to see that Jesus works on our little ones as well...AMEN!!
