A Rainy Start to Summer Break

This week has been cloudy and rainy. The temperature is only in the 60s today. Not quite the the start of summer we were looking for. We have had to be a little creative in having summer fun. So we decided to get the tent out and have lunch in the "woods" (actually on our deck).

The Ram Survives

A house across the street from us went up into flames a couple of weeks ago. Fortunately everyone was able to escape, but sadly they lost almost everything. The fire started from their car in the garage. The community has been very generous in helping them out. Isn't it amazing how something so horrible can bring out the best in people...
On a lighter side, the night of the fire the whole neighborhood was awake due to the sirens and the explosion sounds. We must have been incredibly tired because we slept right through it all. Jake said he heard something like a siren but just rolled over and fell back to sleep. Even our boxer dog did not make a sound. We are doomed if anyone ever tries to break in our home (Ha)!
These are pictures of the Ram that actually survived the fire. We are storing some of the things that survived the fire in our garage...no we didn't steal the ram!

Kacie Watches and Waits

Kacie has been on the sidelines watching Jake in all of his stuff. But she has been a trooper. She cannot wait until she gets to do all of the things her big brother does. The first picture is of Mom & Kacie at Jake's graduation. The second picture is Kacie watching Jake's baseball game. The third picture is Tymber (a favorite friend) and Kacie playing dress-up...one of Kacie's favorite things to do.

Jacob Starts Baseball

This is Jacob's 2ND year to play coach pitch baseball. It is amazing to see how much the kids have improved from the year before. Jake's favorite part of the game is hitting (of course). He is learning the quicker his team gets 3 outs the quicker his team will be up to bat. This year Ben is one of the coaches. Jake thinks it is pretty cool that his Dad gets to be in the action with him. "Swing for the seats, Jake!"

Jacob Graduates Pre-School

Jacob is now an official "Big Boy". He is ready for kindergarten...which he is vary excited for! His graduation was very special. It started out with a Nursery Rhyme Play (Jake was Little Jack Horner) then the kids sang some cute songs and finally they walked the isle in there caps and gowns. Way to go, Jake!!

Jacob Completes His 2nd Year of Cubbies

For those of you not familiar with the Awana program, it is a program in which kids learn to love Gods Word through games, crafts and memorization. It is quite amazing how the verses stick...more than anything we are grateful for this type of program to help us help Jake hide Gods Word in his heart.
